I love this eppy sooo much! I'd already done the lip balm - you can carefully melt it in the microwave. "Natural Beauty At Home" is also a great book.

YAY Luca and Lollibomb! I love the Angel Cake scent she has. She totally has the best customer service evar (and, nope, ThreadBanger and Lollibomb didn't pay me to say that, I'm a huge fan of Luca already - hee.)

    YAY Janome!!!! OMG! :-D

This is really cool! I'm definitely gonna make the balm, once I get a jar.

One problem... I'm allergic to tree nuts, and this includes almonds. Does anyone know good alternatives for sweet almond oil?

  • corinneleigh (guest) wrote in reply on April 11, 12:44 pm

try vitamin e oil...or really any type of oil other than ones derived from a nut.
i'm so glad you mentioned your allergy to nuts because it is super important for people to pay attention to the allergies they have before making any type of cosmetic.

  • KetchupSoldier wrote in reply on April 11, 12:46 pm

    Thanks so much!

  • Luca of Lollibomb (guest) wrote in reply on April 11, 4:14 pm

Some great alternatives to Sweet Almond Oil are...
    -Sunflower Oil
    -Safflower Oil
    -Palm Kernal Oil

www.mountainroseherbs.com is a great source for finding organic oils to make your very own creations!

It was triggered when I bought the latest National Geographic 'Green Guide' and they had an article on organic makeup. thanks so much! i'm off to browse their site!

  • wowshiny (guest) wrote on April 12, 12:23 pm

Thanks for including a product "for guys"! Also, if you want to make a body scrub that's a little less sticky/candy-scented, try using natural sea salt and your choice of base oil (anything safe to eat works for skin). Baking soda makes a good anti-grease-and-acne face scrub, too. Just add enough water to make a paste. Thanks for a great show!

Best scrub EVER, oatmeal, the regular, not instant and honey. Keep them in your bathroom and mix about 2 tbls of each right before you get into the shower/bath. Put it on your washcloth and scrub away. Another "balm", 1/2 cup any oil, I like to use some Vit E as it is good for the skin. 1/2 cup melted bees wax and 2 tbls honey. Mix it all together and pour into your containers. Add sent color if you want. A good portable container for this are pill boxes, you can get some pretty ones, don't forget to reuse your containers.

    hey
i have these jeans and I've had them since the 6th grade and im in 10th now
they are super comfy and i already cut some cool holes in them but they don't fit me around they thighs since i lost weight during the summer.
i was wondering if you could help me out. i don't ind the cutting and sewing. but i don't want to turn them into anything. just jeans.
    thanks
    [doing the scissors]
    :D

  • sewing_sophist (guest) wrote in reply on April 13, 3:56 pm

So they're too big around the thighs? Turn them inside out, put em on, pinch and pin the sides till they're snug, and sew em up. Simple. What I'm surprised about is that they fit you at all; I know none of my 6th grade jeans fit anymore...and I'm only in 8th now. XD

  • CCBirgit (guest) wrote on April 12, 11:30 pm

Hey guys I was just wondering if you could do a show on making belts, and what to do with the ones that are to small. That would be great.

  • margaret.em wrote on April 14, 2:34 am

Since it's nearly summer, you should do a segment on how to make bikinis!
    They are so expensive.
Really, $80 for less than a yard of material? give me a break

  • margaret.em wrote on April 14, 2:36 am

Also, do you have any ideas of what to do with old shoulder pads?
I'm always taking them out of clothes I buy at the thrift store and feel like it is such a waste to throw them away since they are usually covered with the same cool pattern as the clothes I've bought.

Love the show guys, keep up the good work. I am having a alteration dilemma. I have an old jean jacket that I would like to convert into a motorcycle jacket look. I suppose I need to move the zipper over to the side, add a metal clasp to the bottom and jazz up the colar and make it bigger. Got any ideas?

    Thanks

    Stacey

  • BayleeMonster (guest) wrote on April 14, 10:36 pm

Hay there, I love your shows :D Ive been lurking on them for almost a year now. But I was, I was wondering if you could do more eps on clothes or accessories that you dont need a sewing machine to make! I dont have a sewing machine yet, (though ive asked my mom many times) so it would really help me out! Maybe stuff where you have to use hot glue? Or just cutting. Anything really!

Thanks a ton! You guys rock.
