    oooh that dress is beatifullllllll!

  • cassyjo (guest) wrote on May 2, 3:33 pm

is the poncho waterproof? I always through it would have to be some special seam otherwise the seam would leak water. ???

  • Jeannie (guest) wrote in reply on May 7, 3:28 pm

Vinyl tens to stick to itself (think Colorforms... or am I the only person on the planet who remembers those? ;D) so when you press it together during the sewing process, it should create a pretty water-tight seal.

  • JaymieKarn wrote on May 2, 3:33 pm

Too bad I don't wear rain ponchos..like ever lol.

  • brian (guest) wrote on May 2, 3:34 pm

i'm sorry but i didn't like this at all, i would like you to make one of those christian siriano's sarfs they look chic and expensive so please help me out and make a video so i could know how to make one of those scarfs

  • DIYalive! (guest) wrote on May 2, 3:50 pm

I love the poncho! so practical and couture at the same time!

  • saphira wrote on May 2, 5:07 pm

    hey guys,
it would be cool if u could make an episode about belts,-you know, show us how to reconstruct old ones os make them out of other stuff..just a suggestion!
    (ps:threadbanger Rocks!!!)

  • Platinumpixie wrote on May 2, 5:13 pm

Cool episode, I am definately considdering creating my own poncho.
Biran, you may want to check out the Fashion week episode for the scarff thing; I imagine if you use a thin fabrick you could create more layers easily.
And I agree, what can I do with a belt that's starting to tear in half? (other than attempting to sew it back together with some heavy duty needles)

    I love this show!!

  • sewthernbelle wrote on May 3, 9:04 am

hmm...you could so do a traditional coat pattern and use that recycled shower curtain for material!...Not that the poncho isn't cool. Happy Derby Day from KY!

  • Jeannie (guest) wrote in reply on May 7, 3:29 pm

I thought about that, too, and use the grommet strip for a belt! :)

  • kitty2kitty (guest) wrote on May 3, 9:19 am

how do make a summer dress?

  • ink_bottle wrote on May 3, 9:41 am

Awesome show yet again guys. Although I'm not a huge fan of ponchos due to their clumsiness when it comes to drying them out, it'll make a great addition to my camping gear.... because in a forest umbrellas just don't cut it.

  • Mikala (guest) wrote on May 3, 11:49 am

    Hey guys,
I know this had nothing to do with your newest show, which by the way is awsome, but i was watching your episode on a girl pirate costume and noticed the amazingly cool handmade manniquin and i was wondering if you could do a special on making one because I've wanted one forever but they are so darn expensive.
thanks so much. u guys rock
    mikala

Yay! I saw that one, too. I think it was using duct tape, but brown paper packing tape (the stuff that has glue you have to wet, and is not sticky) is excellent for this project. Stiffens like paper machier (sp?rrr) and is lightweight and durable.

  • UnusedUsername wrote on May 3, 4:03 pm

Rob looks like such a nerd in that poncho.
    Lol.

  • Jeannie (guest) wrote in reply on May 7, 3:30 pm

Um, yeah, he does, but nerds are hot, so it's all good.

  • Create and Destroy wrote on May 3, 7:42 pm

You score all of this weeks props, for rocking that incredibly rad Street Drum Corps shirt. Not enough people know about them. Good mostly-likely-unintentional plug there, rob

  • miranda (guest) wrote on May 3, 9:45 pm

That abu ghraib visual reference in the initial still, kinda not cool.

Political satire is great and all but that just rubs me the wrong way.

  • corinneleigh (guest) wrote in reply on May 5, 9:29 am

I can assure you that was not intentional.

  • Kitten (guest) wrote on May 4, 12:14 am

Your hair looks really cute in a ponytail, corrine! :) I'm not too into ponchos, but I'm going to use this tut to make me a raincoat instead.. I gotta figure out how I'm gonna do that though. Guess I'll try to modify a hoodie pattern?

  • corinneleigh (guest) wrote in reply on May 5, 9:38 am

thanks! i'm getting it cut soon so look out for the new do and tell me what you think.

  • reemasq (guest) wrote on May 4, 6:45 am

that prom dress was amazing and best thing about it was the green highlights!

  • sewerella (guest) wrote on May 5, 9:37 am

OMG! thanks so much for showing us how to sew vinyl. i never would have guessed to use tissue paper! duh!

  • peopleperson (guest) wrote on May 5, 1:01 pm

  • memyselfandi (guest) wrote on May 5, 6:55 pm

great episode! the poncho idea is really neat and looks super easy to make.

  • sloan (guest) wrote on May 5, 8:23 pm

i need help. so my zipper for my backpack broke and i dunno how to fix it. one side of the zipper just broke in half. not like it's completely unzipped and the zipper in on on side but the teeth part is broken. i dunno it you can picture that but that's what happened. help!

  • Lia (guest) wrote on May 6, 12:50 am

I have a spare shower curtain layout around in the original packaging. Now I know what to do with it! Thanks!

  • Syd wrote on May 6, 3:25 pm

Rain ponchos are awesome for riding bikes when it's wet! And making one out of old shower curtain is so way better than buying on of those cheap "disposable" smelly ponchos. Great thinking Rob & Corinne. LVOE.
