Too bad, I really liked that top, but no serger....I just got an old sewing machine...don't see a serger anytime soon, just too expensive!
Not to be such a hawker, but check out Janome Magnolia 7034d serger online. Not too expensive. Also, when Corinne worked w/ knits and sweaters before she got her serger, I think she used a zigzag stitch. It scallops the edges (which looks cool) and locks the knit so it doesn't fray. Not using a serger just means you have to do a bunch of trimming with ye olde scissorees... don't give up! Make your shrug thingy!
yes, like kira said...just use a zigzag stitch and lots of trimming. that was my method for a looooong time. xoxox c
I saw a Brother Serger on Amazon.com for only 250.00....may not be the greatest, but with my crappy skills i don't need anything fancy schmancy!!!
i had an idea!
if u don`t have a serger. then maybe you can use a zigzag stitch. put the length between stitches at point five cm. and the rest at your own specifications(ie. zigzag width...)
do the same as if you had a serger, but all you would ahve to do would be cut the fabric before to your alterations instead.
technically it would work, but it wouldn`t be exactly the same as if you used a serger...
hopefully helpfull--- Purpli_me**
wooow
thats so awsome
heyyy good news
ur also popular here in México!
Hey, Rob and Corinne! Lovely episode and I also love the shrug wrap thingy. I love the show and everything.
I'm quite sure this isn't the place to ask this, but...
I saw some cool charms/jewellery on the internet, made of soda cans, which have smooth edges and look REALLY lovely. As I couldn't find any tutorials on how to make these, I'm really hoping You could help me. I would LOVE an episode on making these.
I also found a person selling those, so you could see what I mean.

Here they are. And thanks, even if You can't make an episode of these.
Love, G. :)

if you have any specific questions, email them to me at tips@threadbanger.com and i will try my best to help you out.

So glad to find your site...looking forward to exploring more!!
Thanks.

Tha badunkl show looked sweet! I loved her style!!!
And thanks so much for showing us how to make that shrug. Im deff. gonna make one with hopefully my own twist XD
And Im not sure if you meant me when you said MaryKayy. cuz I said how much i liked the shrug and didnt see a Marykayy
Lol so if it was me..Its MANDYkayy :P but its kool .
Love the vids.. keep em up !
First off, I loved this show! If a had a serger I would make mine just like that!
As you were showing off that AWESOME shrug of yours I saw in the background the outfit with white skirt, red top, and dark green jacket. I really like it. If you made the jacket I'd LOVE to find out how. or if you didn't, is there someway you can show me something similar? maybe even how to jazz up an old jacket? I have a lot of those around that I don't wear....
That would be so cool. :D I hope to see it!
Keep up the GREAT vids!
WOW...what a great show!!! That Anastazia Lousie of Bad Unkl Sista needs to stay out of the sun, she burns easily, but what a fun piece on her and her comapny. So is that a permanent new set for you guys!?!? It's like a workshop/garage type thing, and there's so many things in the background that I know are little personal nods to past shows and articles framed and such, maybe you can pist up stills of the set on the Threasbanger blog or something. So does this mean no more green screen in your future? You're both doing awesome!!! -Steve C
Yay! I'm not the only one who uses the word 'thingy' in a sentence!
And I'll say it once and I'll say it again, SERGER TUTORIAL PLEASE!!! Especially of how to thread the darn thing.
Where to buy a serger please! i love that shirt...thing! but what else could i make with a serger??
i think a serger episode is in order.
Brit
Well, whatever you guys changed on this website it has now become impossible for me to watch the videos. Thanks
What kinds of changes would you like to see on the site? Any suggestions that would make it easier? Email us at tips@threadbanger.com. Thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial. I will definitely be attempting that shrug thingy. Also, I really liked the top that inspired Corinne's top, and the snazzy ruffle Corinne added.
Even though a lot of people are serger-less, I would like to 3rd the motion for a serger episode, AND could you tell us how to "lock knits" on a regular sewing machine?? I know its a lot to ask, but I have high hopes!
Praise Threadbanger I finally have something to do with all those icky turtlenecks.
that was really rad as usual, but where are you guys while your taping the show? do you have a new threadheads warehouse? anyways great as always! you guys rock!
eii .. :P
i really want to know how to do diy haircuts..
i mean ..
i cut my own hair but i want a haircut like the girl in this video.. i really would apressiate your help :P..
greetings from tijuana xP
i loved that girls hair! it was totally awesome!
HEY I LUV ALL UR SHOWS. IM IN MIDDLE SCHOOL AND CLOTH BAGS ARE REALLY IN STYLE. U KNOW THE ONES THAT U CAN USE AS A PURSE AND STILL USE TO HOLD BOOKS IN. WELL I WAS WONDERING IF U COULD DO A SHOW ON NOW TO MAKE BAGS LIKE THAT CUS THE ONES AT THE STORE R SO EXPENSIVE AND THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME. SO CAN U PLEASE PLEASE DO A SHOW ON THAT IT WOULD MAKE ME SO HAPPY???????!!!!!
i made the shrug thing using the zigzag stitch on a regular sewing machine cuz i dont have a serger....it worked fine but to get the serged look i went over every line at least twice.
suitable for overlock-machine owners only,
unfortunately:(
(yes,I know my english s**ks)
Hey could you do a tut o the outfit the girl at the end had on? It rocks!
Love the show! -_^
I SECOND THAT! want the outfit, love the outfit, NEED the outfit. patterns/how-to is a MUST HAVE for that outfit she made. I LOVE IT
That's an awesome shrug XD I really love it. Unfortunately the sewing machine crashed. EEP.
Anyway,
So I've got my birthday coming up, and I'm having a top-hat themed party. I've got a white bridal top hat, and I was wondering if you could give me some ideas of how to jazz it up a little with some decorations!
Thanks [:
Really wish this show was on in Australia!
i LOVE the wrap thing! i'm just a beginner sewer, and i'm so damn excited about this site! :D:D seriously... i started sewing a few years ago, but left it with some boring patterns... until these past couple months, i made a flared mini skirt with dupioni silk. its sooo gorgeous (but sheesh! i washed it, and the silk changed its texture) right now i'm making a slipcover for this $6 ottoman i found in a thrift store. so far, its going ok, the suede-like material is pretty easy to work with, and i plan to make some curtains for my livingroom with this old cotton duvet cover i have.
is this website actually based on some kinda tv show?
oh! look, i can start up an account here!
i'm doin that right now :P
i love that shirt that corrine is wearing in this episode it is like a tee shirt with a button down collor and button part! i LOOOOVVVE IT!!!
