Does eating vegetarian make you shit less?

  • Manley Stanley wrote on July 12, 12:36 am

The bag, Don't Shit On The Planet Go Vegetarian, was depicting the fact that our carnivorous ways are pretty much the equivalent to taking a giant shit on our loving Mother Earth.
For example, we're destroying our atmosphere with the production of cows for slaughter. Because there is such a high demand for the meat, we raise more of them. And the number one producer of methane gas? A cow.
Also, nearly one half of all fossil fuels used go to the production of meat and related business.
Plus, about one third of all water used is for the animals to drink and be cleaned with and such whilst the growing period ensues before the inevitable slaughter.
Just thought I'd clear that up ;]

  • greenjulius3 wrote on July 11, 7:53 pm

Hello! Well loved the show as always and was wondering if you guys could ever do a show on buying a sewing machine?

  • Elle wrote on July 11, 9:58 pm

Wow. cool flip flop idea. Also, I'm super psyched to see the Threadbanger Sewing Machine!!

  • Robert (guest) wrote on July 11, 10:16 pm

I hope that I heard Corinne wrong in the opening piece where it ended with her using the term "gay" as a substitute for "lame" regarding Robs "Ancient Chinese Proverb". Since I first starting watching Thread Banger I remember her mocking Rob for his scissor gesture to close the show and since then she continues from one episode to the next making her mean spirited comments, dimly disguised as co-hosting banter or rolling her eyes in response to something Rob has said or done. I have always overlooked these little affectations but it is just growing old especially with this latest offense. Corrine you are just a sad mean person and for someone constantly mentioning karma…well, darkness must cloud your ugly world, but it is of your own making. I will unsubscribe from the Thread Banger YouTube Channel and I will contact my many friends that I “turned onto” Thread Bangers and discuss with them my thoughts on contacting Janome with our concerns of sponsoring a show with such a negative person connected to it. With one certain exception it was fun while it lasted.

  • NotRamonD wrote on July 11, 11:11 pm

    she said "OK" not "gay"

  • David (guest) wrote on July 11, 11:19 pm

No she didn't. She said Gay. Spin it NotRamonD!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Candy (guest) wrote on July 17, 3:47 am

Wow! To start saying I heard you wrong and go on and on about Corrine is rude and ridiculous. You sound like a sad mean person especially with the spin it comment. Lighten up a bit! You did hear her wrong and the rolling eyes and stuff is supposed to be funny....

  • Candy (guest) wrote on July 17, 3:52 am

Oh and by the way....derogatory statements and prejudice words are powered by those who find them so. If you ignore them it takes away their power instead of igniting it with anger. That's a suggestion for the future when someone actually does use that term in such a way as you assumed.

  • KiraVonConcrete wrote on July 17, 12:03 pm

Robert (guest) wrote on July 11, 10:16 pm

So, Robert, are you going to apologize like you should to Ms. Corinne for your completely uncalled-for and insulting character assassination?

Let's all play nice from now on, yeah? This is such an amazing site and Rob and Corinne and Meg are excellent hosts w/ tons of talent. We're lucky to have access to them. Let's appreciate them and give 'em a break. DIY or shut up. Ha ha ha! A new slogan.

  • Caitlin Alexander (guest) wrote on July 11, 11:00 pm

You must live in a very small, unconnected to the world and quite bland box, 'Robert'. Corinne's banter is mild (and usually merited) that there is no possible way I can understand your dramatic and outrageous comment.

For what it is worth, I appreciate everything Rob and Corinne have done in this show and I found this episode to be very good and absolutely mild and amusing.

  • David (guest) wrote on July 11, 11:30 pm

I agree with "Robert". And for you "Caitlin" as usual people, such as yourself, quickly dismiss the larger point I believe Robert is trying to make. Therefore you are the one disconnected. But I think I can understand in "your" world like many others like you where one's worth is determined by the undermining of another how you so easily could not understand such a "dramatic and outrageous" comment.

  • Caitlin Alexander (guest) wrote on July 12, 12:41 pm

Honestly, there are so many worse things Corinne could do besides roll her eyes and say 'okay' at Rob acting strangly. I believe you should save your outrage for times when it is needed and required. Otherwise, you become a 'boy who cried wolf' in a sense. With so many terrible issues out there, that you would spend your time demeaning an amazing co-host that -helps- a major issue (environment) simply because she laughs at her co-host's antics is a little over-sensitive. If you want to be upset about something and change something, find an issue that is worth it and use your energy there.

Turn on public TV and then tell me that THIS is where your fight should be. If you are offended by such a small thing as this I can only imagine the heart attack you'd have at the horrible programs out there. Write THEIR sponsors, and speak angrily about THEM.

But not a DIY fashion co-host who pokes fun at her colleague's eccentric behavior.

As for your comment about 'one's worth is determined by the undermining of another' all I have to save is that -I- did not publicly say to Corrine that 'you are just a sad mean person and for someone constantly mentioning karma…well, darkness must cloud your ugly world, but it is of your own making...' as well as other uncalled for comments. Nor would I if I had an issue with their show.

  • Janine (guest) wrote on July 15, 7:02 pm

Caitlin is right, she didn't even say that she said okay. sheesh!

  • jay_of_sunshine wrote on July 11, 11:40 pm

that gay comment was wack yo

  • jay_of_sunshine wrote on July 11, 11:54 pm

i think its a little sad that it took 19 comments b4 some one said eny thing about the gay thing
thats whats wrong with to day so many kids and teens are use to hearing gay used that way that no one thinks about the people who they are talking about
gay back in the day use to mean happy and joyus but now its used as lame dumb and stopid so dose that mean thats what you think of gay people
im go to give her a pass on this one because people slip some times but that dosent make it right

  • Createanddestroy (guest) wrote on July 12, 12:17 am

to clear it all up she said "okay" and suggest you listen to it again. We both as well would never stand for those words uttered in our show.
    - rob (co-host)

  • sorryimnothomerightnow wrote on July 12, 2:43 am

Awesome episode! I very much would like a "threadbangers" Machine! when / where can i get one?

  • SewOrBeSewn (guest) wrote on July 12, 11:57 am

She totally said "okay" ... its hard to hear with the music

  • Meg wrote on July 12, 12:37 pm

Corinne would NEVER utter the word gay in such a negative context. She has actually backed me when I called someone else out for doing so. Corinne has a huge, loving and accepting heart and uses words and vocabulary that represent that. Corinne is one of my friends who thinks about the words they choose to use THE MOST. She is very supportive and embracing of our gay friends, and was the first person to encourage me to do an accepting and celebratory Gay Pride episode. She would never utter something that is hurtful to anyone, let alone a group of people that surround her here in New York City.
As someone who knows, works with and spends a lot of time with Corinne, take my word for it that she said OKAY. Listen and have your facts straight before you rant about something that never actually happened. Corinne has dedicated her life's work to educating and encouraging an eco-lifestyle and helping people. To rip her apart for something like this is really sad and angering. Especially since your information is incorrect.

I am her friend and now I am pretty pissed off at those of you who jumped to this conclusion.

    P.S. I love you Corinne.

  • Rosie (guest) wrote on July 12, 3:17 pm

Corinne clearly says "OK". That young lady stands for social equality. It's a sad, sad day when someone wants to try to hate on Corinne for being "mean spirited". That's the antithesis of what she's all about.

That being said, this episode was GREAT!! This is something anyone can do in a minimal amount of time. I want to yoga mat flip-flop the world! You guys continue to be an amazing inspiration!!!

    Xoxo,
    Rosie

    P.S. A++ on effects.

P.P.S. Love the glasses, Rob. Good look. Good look.

  • stelluna wrote on July 13, 9:05 pm

Already made me a pair!! very coll. I used some old webbing from a yoga mat holder thing...my flip flops are the coolest. I loved this idea because I have what I guess is unusual shaped feet and I can never find flip flops that fit...It's great to be able to just make some now!

  • curleq94 (guest) wrote on July 13, 10:33 pm

since its almost time to go back to school i was wondering if you could please show us how to make book covers, possibly out of material, or even a cute back pack or book bag for school. I want to show people how you can make even your books stylish!

hey! so between ur show n the forum n stuff i've seen about a trilion adorable types of ways to make tote bags. but any ideas on how to make clutches or hangbags or anything lyk that?

  • misssewthernbelle wrote on July 14, 2:28 pm

Great episode guys! Don't let the haters get you down. I don't want to give them any more attention than they are seeking so you shouldn't either.

Meanwhile, after thinking about xowonderpesox's comment, I think you need to do another hat show. My suggestions would be how to make a hat with a wide brim (ALA Hollywood) and how to make a knit oversized newsboy cap (ALA SJP in SATC Season Six) Or at least tell us where we could find it.

  • Ana (guest) wrote on July 14, 5:03 pm

Is it just me or is Rob even cuter with glasses?

It's amazing how sensitive some people are.

I adore you guys. Don't listen to any of those haters. They clearly have no clue what they're talking about.

    Poundcake. =]

  • dizzy (guest) wrote on July 16, 6:45 pm

Whoa. It never even occurred to me that Corinne would use "gay" in such a flippantly offensive way, so I absolutely understood her when she said "okay". I was surprised when I saw the explanatory video Rob had to put up on the site.
Y'all are so ridiculously sensitive. Corinne seems like the last person in the world who would use "gay" the way some (rather stupid) kids do. Just use your head next time, before you get your back up.

Loved the show, as usual. =3 & I need some flip-flops, so I'll definitely be digging out my old yoga mats. Thanks, dolls

  • MsConstrued (guest) wrote on July 16, 8:22 pm

loved the episode. its too bad i don't do yoga so i could cut up my mat and make some flops. I'm a really big fan of your show and was saddened when someone threatened to try and get it canceled over a 3 letter word that wasn't even said. I can't believe someone could ruin it for every one else who love love love what you guys are doing. Corinne your awesome so don't worry about the haters.
