HA! I love that! I thought the very same thing. I love the stuff on american apparel dearly but am not going to pay extra for stuff i could make.

The video wasn't really intended as an instructional--but here's some info on how I made the scarf.

1) I sewed the fabric together, end to end, making a loop with a 2 yard circumference. However, as I noted in the video, the scarf was way too long, as a roll of fabric is generally pretty tall.

2) In order to make it more manageable, I folded the scarf in half so that the two raw edges were now touching I made sure that the seam I sewed in step 1 was on the *outside* (very important!).

3) I sewed the raw edges together, reducing the scarf's width (but also making it thicker!). I left a small hole unsewn.

4) Through the hole, I pulled the scarf right side out.

5) I sewed the hole up!

Yes, it's a long scarf, but it's intended to be doubled up and worn over your head. I actually think I ended up with something smaller than what I was basing it on, but I like it just fine.

what if u don't own a sewing machine and can't afford to get one, not very usefull in that case.
