Worn Out: Street Style Picks
Hey guys! Per usual, here are my top 5 faves from the last few weeks of street style blogging. Leave YOUR favorites in the comments section, and be sure to fill me in on what street style sites you're digging these days. Let's go:
It's WAY COLD here in DC (finally!), and I am totally on the lookout for sharp-looking ways to stay warm. The coat on the left (from a December 7 post at Hel-Looks) is anything but basic black - and somehow still looks incredibly versatile. The vintage cut makes it pretty enough to throw on over a dress and some woolly tights, and THAT COLOR (amazing!) is just begging to inject some personality into a low-key, jeans-and-boots kind of outfit. And how cool is the contrast between her bag and coat?? The gentleman at right (from a November 20 post - scroll down for it - at PLAYLUST) lacks the outerwear panache of the previous look, but more than makes up for it in unexpected accessories. I'm always a big proponent of the fitted suit, and the rich brown color of this one is perfect for Holiday. Add a snappy red scarf, a cozy hat, and SNOWFLAKE GLOVES (at first glance I thought they were crests, which would have been sooo posh) and you've totally got the guy version of "I'm not ruining this dress with a coat when I'm just going to be running from the car to the party." So familiar with that.

The look at left (from a December 4 post at Stockholm Street Style is a little odd in all the right ways. The funny proportions (the oversized scarf vs. the slender bag strap; the too-long jacket vs. cuffed sleeves and pants) make it so visually interesting - even with all the neutrals - that I just can't stop looking at it. I think I like it so much that I want to try it out myself (with a gigantic pair of heels in place of those boots, of course). The photo on the right (from a December 3 post at Face Hunter) isn't an outfit, per se, but that necklace is just about the greatest thing I've seen all week. It's a statement that doesn't scream NOTICE ME, and it's conjuring up some great black & white DIY ideas. Sublime.
