Now that the holidays are here, I'm on the lookout for a stunning dress to wear for New Years Eve. I ran across this Yves Saint Laurent cobalt blue dress worn by both Kylie Minogue and Becki Newton which bares a striking resemblance to this Vogue Donna Karan pattern (by lengthening the tunic just a few inches, you'll have a very close knock-off). Even though both celebries wore the same dress, you'll see that the fit is much different. Love Kylie's fuller skirt? Trace the pattern to fit you in the bodice, but cut the rest of the dress slightly larger and gather to fit (you may also want to elimiate the pockets so you don't create extra bulk in the stomach area). Think that Becki's slinky silhouette is more your style? Copy the pattern as is, but be sure not to flare out the skirt when lengthening the pattern.
