Worn Out: Street Style Pics...
...NY Fashion Week edition! As always, I've culled my top 5 favorite looks from the street style blogs for you, and this week brings some Fashion Week-inspired, next-level excellence. Leave your nods of approval and "over my dead body's" in the comments section, and be sure to shout out your favorite style blogs as well. Here goes:

Lately I've found myself drawn to the CLASSICS, and it doesn't get much more classic than these two looks. The outfit on the left, from a February 16 post at Garance Dore, is as simple as they come - neutrals abound; the shapes are soft and pretty - and its appeal lies in its attainability. Based on pieces everyone has in their closet (a comfortable but flattering dress, the classic trench, smart shoes) and just a touch of STATEMENT (check those tights!), this is a great Paris-via-NY look to keep in the back of your mind for when cutting-edge just isn't in the cards. The outfit at right, from a February 15 post at The Sartorialist, takes classic menswear elements and transforms them into a look that's distinctly feminine. The tweed of the skirt, men's hat, and leather coat are all sturdy as get-out but are softened by the polka-dot blouse, tights, and - duh - their wearer. Again, this brings to mind something distinctly French, by way of Amelie, and I'll definitely be aping her look as Winter drags on.

The look at left, from a February 14 post by The Sartorialist for Style.com, was so laid-back compared to some of the other Fashion Week looks I saw that I couldn't help but fall for it. The light pink and greys are looking ahead to Spring, and her MEGA-EXCELLENT choice in footwear was a sweet little reminder that 6 inch heels do not necessarily a fashionista make. That said, I'm totally into the shoes in the photo at right, from a February 16 post from Phil Of at Street Peeper. The girl pictured is Susanna Lau of Style Bubble and Dazed Digital, and she is, as ever, fashion-forward as it gets. The sleeves on her jacket are cute little points of interest, and again - the pinks and greys are a nod to the upcoming Spring color palette. The whole thing is kept from being too precious with that bad (IN A GOOD WAY) scarf and, of course, those shoes. Complete originality.

Susie Bubble again - this time in a February 15 post by The Sartorialist for Style.com. This is my FAVORITE picture this week for a few reasons - one, the neon is brilliant (both literally and figuratively); two, I've been trying to figure out a way to integrate sweatpants into my wardrobe since Alexander Wang's Spring 09 show and THIS seems to be how it's done; and three, I mean - SWEATPANTS! They're EXACTLY what is necessary if you're going to trek around all day in heels, and I salute this look and everything it stands for. Agreed??
