Worn Out: Street Style Pics
Yo guys! As ever, here are my top 5 picks from the last two weeks of street style blogging - and this time around it's all about the MEN. Be sure to leave your thumbs up/thumbs down in the comments section, and share share share any online sources YOU love for men's fashion inspiration. Here goes:

These first two looks (the left from a February 24 post at AltaMira NYC; the right from March 2 at Amsterdam's FadTony) are similar in theme but differ drastically in execution. They're both based on well-worn denim and both veer seriously into boyfriend-territory, but things are kept a bit more classic at left. Vaguely 90s and certainly French, this look is kept on its toes (literally!) with the addition of heels, clean stripes, and an opaque tight. Her layers, leather jacket and chic scarf keep a shorts-based outfit firmly appropriate for Winter temperatures, and I'm so digging her big, silver men's watch. Where she comes off crisp and clean, the outfit on the right is laid-back to the point that I'm pretty sure it may have been laying on her floor at some point earlier that day. And that's not necessarily a bad thing! She manages to channel a certain Grunge-Goddess-by-way-of-Nico (mixing beat-up Converse with slick Wayfarers tends to have that effect) and I only hope that I achieve such effortless rock and roll references on MY laundry day...

I posted on bow ties at my own blog already this week, and was so stoked to find more evidence of their EXCELLENCE in a February 17 post at Copenhagen Street Style. This gent exudes casual sharpness and is a great example of how just a few extras can transform an outfit into something really special: there's nothing like a sweater vest and some classic MAN ACCESSORIES - those statement glasses and of course, that bow tie - to step things up a bit, and the juxtaposition of the old leather bag, the easy fit pants, and those work boots keep things grounded. Whereas the CSS look is ALL MAN, I love how the photo at right (again, from AltaMira NYC, this time in a February 25 post) comes off as androgynous - even though both men are wearing MENSWEAR. The ladies have so co-opted the blazer/tight pants combo over the last couple of seasons that it's almost funny to see guys pull it off so well! Needless to say, this is definitely a look that both sexes can earmark for when you're in need of a little getting-dressed-to-go-out inspiration.

And now, a complete change of pace - while all the rest of my fave looks involved some degree of menswear, my A++, #1 street style posting this time around is ultrafemme and so pretty. From a February 27 post at Garance Dore, I just couldn't get enough of the color combinations in this look. The olive jacket keeps that neon yellow-green from floating off into the clouds, and the red plays off both shades SO PERFECTLY. Don't try to tell me it's AT LEAST not pleasing to the eye in that respect, to say nothing of the rest of the outfit! I'm so into the details here - the heavy metal studs on the coat; the peek of a blue & white striped shirt at collar and cuff; those boots! I'm starting to get serious envy so I'm going to leave it at that, but I plan on taking a page from this woman's book and start focusing on the small stuff a little bit more...do YOU??
