Can you feel it? Spring is HERE - love is in the air, the layers are coming off, and the flowers are blooming - both literally AND figuratively. One of my absolute favorite Spring 09 runway shows was Fendi - it was feminine and flattering and oh-so-pastel, but what really nailed it for me were the amazing flower appliques that adorned dresses, skirts, and jackets:  Appliques used to belong exclusively to the realm of crazy aunts and grannies everywhere - but with tons of 3D looks on Spring runways, now is definitely the time to experiment with them yourself. Whether you're constructing big rosettes out of scrap fabric and affixing them to everything you see (a la Fendi) or sewing scalloped edges along the sleeves of your Spring jackets and tops (see Chloe for inspiration), this trend is just begging for one last DIY project before you run outside and enjoy the weather.
