Celebrity DIY Style: Courtney Cox Color Block Dress

Sometimes the best dresses are simple enough to let the fabric speak for itself. Courteney Cox started filming her new televison program, Couger Town, and wore a stunning color block dress while shooting scenes. Recreating this dress starts with finding a basic 'sundress' style pattern (such as New Look 6699). Alter the design by cutting a wide vertical strip from the pattern for the white fabric, a smaller vertical strip for the red, and leaving the rest of the dress untouched - don't forget to leave seam allowances on each side of the strip so the finished measurements don't change. Prefer a 'no sew' method to this look? Try using fabric paints! Block off the areas to be painted with blue painter's tape to keep your lines crisp and straight. Don't forget to heat set your work when you're finished so your new dress stays color fast.
