Crazy for Quilts 2009 Contest! The Alliance for American Quilts
The Alliance for American Quilts (AAQ) is hosting a quilt contest with wonderful prizes: 1st place is valued at 0 - 00, 2nd includes a generous array of quilting tools and supplies valued at 0 and 3rd includes EQC software and books valued at 0. There are two easy categories for entering - Ages 30 and younger, and Ages over 30 - and the only constraint is that the finished quilt must be 16" by 16" in size (2009 marks AAQ's 16th birthday!) and must consist of three layers.
Crazy for Quilts! entrants are encouraged to draw inspiration from one or more aspect of the crazy quilt: design, color, fabric, surface embellishment, history or some other aspect of this style that you want to celebrate. There's room in this contest for all styles; from traditional approaches to art quilts. The quilts will be exhibited on The Alliance’s website as well as national venues including the National Quilting Association’s annual show in Columbus, Ohio, June 18-20, 2009. The quilts will be auctioned and the proceeds will go to The Alliance for American Quilts.
Postmark your quilt by June 1st, 2009 with an entry fee of for AAQ members and for non-members, include an artist statement of 75 words with the entry form found on this page. Name, title of quilt and date must be securely sewn on the back of the quilt. Happy quilting!
