Weekly DIY Roundup: Nintendo Knit and Crochet Projects!

Co-Blogger Heather Mann showed me this amazing crocheted Mario blanket, so I had to do a Nintendo roundup! I stuck with just knit and crochet projects, and there are still so many out there, this is just a fun collection for you to peruse, and you can find hundreds more video game related craft projects around the craft site world if you look around. The Mario blanket is by Gege Crochet, who blogged about the whole "quest" of making the blanket!

Another crazy ambitious Mario project is The Mario Scarf! Cassie is knitting the entire first level map of the original Super Mario Brothers game!

Here's another excellent crocheted Mario blanket, by thomcatdesigns on flickr:

And another one! This one is by NerdyCrochetGal on craftster:

And another Mario scarf, this one is knit by peeloutyourface, with all the Mario villains (and charts for each one!)...

This scarf knit by starscream223 on flickr (Nerdfins on ravelry) features my personal favorite Nintendo game, Dr. Mario!!

The Periwinkle Dragon has a chart for this different kind of knit Mario - a textured Mario Washcloth:

And yet another Mario-related project, FadeCrazy shares a free pattern for this Goomba Hat:

And to finish off the Mario portion of this roundup, BunnieBard on craftster crocheted these great Bob-omb Bags, with a free pattern!

My boyfriend loves the old game Mega Man, and was excited to see this knit hat by TrinKnitty:

Talli_1985 on craftster made a crocheted version of the same Mega Man hat:

If Zelda is your game of choice, thru the eyes of a crafter blog has patterns for Josh's Link Hat and Triforce Scarf:

I'm a huge Tetris fan, so I love CaterpillarPeacock's Tetris Afghan:

And Kayster made a Tetris baby blanket - a great gender neutral idea!

Check out these Tetris blocks by misterfrododontdie on flickr (megziewoodles on ravelry):

And lastly, this one breaks the Nintendo theme, but it just works so great for knit/crochet charts - geeknits has a free pattern for her Pacman scarf:

All old 8-bit games are super knit/crochet friendly because of the pixels, and there is even a big ravelry group called 8-bits and Knits! I know there are tons more out there, so if you have a Nintendo project you knit or crocheted, or there's a great one you've seen, feel free to share it in the comments!
