Shes so adorable..and yeah the "I dont cut trees" thing is soooo cute! hee hee This is what we at our house! Energy saving bulbs. recycle cans, plastics, and glass. Re-use glass jars. I let my crazy son play with unused carbored to cut and make swords! I use all my plastic bags...and throw away. Shut off lights when not in use! Damn it..everyone should do this man!!!!
My leather working business uses only "economy grade" leather that the shoe, upholstery, and purse manufacturers won't touch. The reason it's "economy grade" is because it's a byproduct of free range rather than factory farming and has scars and marks from *gasp* the animal living a full life (what a horrid fashion sin). It's both more ethical and more ecologically sound than the "higher grade" leathers, and I aesthetically I prefer the unique character of leather from an animal that was given the chance to live a fairly full life and was treated well. I also only use vegetable tanned leathers and avoid chemical or mineral tanned leathers, as vegetable tanning is a completely sustainable process when managed properly.
She's sooo cute! Let's try to save the earth for our kids. I recycle everything I can, reuse plastic bags and always turn out the lights! Happy Earth Day! Peace
"i don't cut down trees"...priceless. here's my tips Hang dry your clothes, not running your dryer saves tons of energy and money.
Instead of cooking a roast in the oven use a crockpot.
Make your own bread! it's not even hard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMxJgIpe38Q&feature=channel_page i love the basic recipe here i have a giant bucket of dough in my fridge right now.
grow what u can even little things like herbs in a window sill make a difference, who wants to spend $3 on a sprig of cilantro every time u make salsa.
save glass jars and lids, nothing wrong with drinking outta a pickle jar and it saves you from buying new containers to store leftovers in... u can do without, paper plates, plastic wrap, and paper towel....even toilet paper :O lavender, tea tree, or grapefruit seed oil can replace bleach for sanitizing.
you can clean everything with, vinegar, plain soap, baking/washing soda, salt, and lemon. If there's a non disposable option use it, cloth diapers, sanitary napkins, diva cups.... think that's enough for now.
She is adorable. I reuse my old torn clothes for new fabric, and re-use plastic bags and am planning to make a whole new bag from them! I also ride the bus instead of drive.
I turn off unused light and tv...,switch off tap whilst brushing theeth, allways take a bag shopping whith me,Buy food locally, only buy t-shirts made from eco cotton, cut up and recycle old ones, i have a compost heap,i recycle cans, glas, paper and milkbottles, grow my own lettuce and tomatos, have some eco bulbing, cycle to school, all ways check my cats cat food does not come from thailand, use public transport more than the car and i do not buy pens or such things from china. Now i think thats quiet good for a teen:)
Here are a few things my husband and I do to live more sustainably: We use natural sunlight when we can instead of turning on the lights. We use homemade cleaning products that are more environmentally friendly than commercial cleaning products. We shower once every 2 days or so instead of every day. (And no one would know unless I told them.) We try to limit eating meat to once a week, opting to buy fresh produce and make our own breads. We... Read More mostly use public transportation or walk. We mend our clothes or find new uses for them. (Today I'm wearing a headband I made out of recycled T-shirts. I used the other parts of the shirts to make my cat a catbed.) I've also been making plarn out of old grocery bags. I plan to use this to crochet bags and coasters.
