Yo guys! As always, here's my top 5 round-up of offerings from the street style blogosphere - and with temperatures pushing the 90s here in DC, I could ONLY find inspiration in all things summery. Get ready, and be sure to leave your A+'s and F-'s in the comments section! Here we go: My first two picks both come from
Face Hunter's coverage of Coachella (from
April 18 and
April 23 posts, respectively), and both made me just about crazy for HOT WEATHER. The look at left is a great take on an Easy Rider, 60s California-cool; the sandals are a nice, grounding touch and MAN - I would KILL for those shorts. I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled for all things patriotic while thrifting over the next few weeks...The outfit on the right also holds a bit of vintage appeal - the most apt description I can come up with is Wednesday Addams meets Courtney Love and goes to a sock hop. And I'm just going to leave it at that.
While the look on the left, from an
April 16 post at The Sartorialist, isn't QUITE Spring/Summer appropriate, his pant color certainly is. It's bringing to mind bathing suits and sunglasses; color-drenched, sunny days and balmy, technicolor nights. Basically I'm a sucker for any hue featured prominently in airbrushed t-shirts, and that purple, my friends, is IT. The outfit at right, from an
April 19 post at Estonia's
Just Glitter Lust, is exactly the kind of cuckoo-craziness I look forward to at the beginning of the warm weather season. It's so afternoon-barbecue-into-late-night-dancing appropriate that it's not even funny, and those tights are a totally charming addition for when the weather doesn't quite match your mood. I'm also digging her 80s accessories, even though it goes against most things I stand for (NO PLASTIC JEWELRY!!!) to do so.
My absolute favorite look this week is from an
April 17 post at (surprise, surprise)
Garance Dore. This is such a gorgeous spin on 70s-commune-earthiness; I can only imagine it with black cutoffs and vintage brown heels. That necklace is at once delicate and IN CHARGE, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about her denim shirt since I saw it. This is a perfect Spring-into-Summer transition outfit, and I am literally headed to my own closet right now to make it happen.
