Stating that the current trend in eyewear “mocks our creativity,” Urban took matters into his own hands and created eyeglass frames made of wood. Using unique woods like purpleheart, lingum vitae, padauk, and more, each piece is custom designed to fit your face and is completely one-of-a-kind. Still whittling away in his Rogers Park basement in Chicago, Urban just came out with his new retro-inspired Record Specs collection…it’s so Buddy Holly. But keep in mind, whether you want round, square, rectangle, or a custom creation just for you, it’ll cost you. Frames start at around 0 and we’re guessing he doesn’t take insurance. Once you select your desired look, simply have the lenses popped in. And if you must indulge your hipster side, go for glass lenses for a faux look.
