Spice of Life
Whether you want to go all sugar and spice and everything nice or go Goth like Angelina an fill it with a vile of your lover’s blood, these necklaces from Sarah Hood Jewelry provide countless creative options. Hood’s passion for gardening and botany clearly come through in her jewelry which she describes as “small sculptures.” Hood also thinks no material is too mundane and that includes everything from dead leaves to doll arms. Her Organic collection pulls organic materials like acorns, pods, and leaves and turns them into art to “embrace the impermanence of the world around me.” With a slightly more sterile feel, her Spice collection captures spices, seeds, and pods in tiny glass jars to “blur the lines between studio, kitchen, and laboratory.”
And finally, here Landscape line turns jewelry into art. Hood took a break from her natural materials to create artificial miniature worlds that “trick the eyes into believing they are seeing something much larger.” Although her designs/works of art are on the pricey side, it also got our creative juices flowing imagining what we could stick in glass vials…and with Halloween coming up the gruesome possibilities are endless. For those looking for something to spruce up their homes, Hood has a line of unique flatware and tableware and has a collection of Hardware in the works. We can’t wait to check it out for some inspiration.
