FutureFashion: The Eco-friendly Fashion show!

It seems these days that every is going GREEN. And with fashion being such a big part society and especially during fashion week, why not combine the two?
Just a few days ago, Earth Pledge showcased their annual FutureFashion show in New York City. Earth Pledge is a non-profit organization which promotes the development of sustanable materials. With a variety of 28 well known designers coming together last week, FutureFashion was a huge success. Designers such as Marc Jacobs, Diane Von Fursterberg, Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney and more dedicated their time to create beautiful looks.
I know, I know... when you think of Eco friendly clothing, a fashion show is probably the last thing that comes to mind. However, these gorgeous dresses and beautiful outfits were far far from that stereotype. Though if you had the chance to attend last week's fashion show, you wouldn't even have been able to tell the difference with the clothing! So the runway was a bit rough, but with all the fancy decorations and decor, it was pure luxury.

If you want a chance to get your hands on some of these collections, check out Barneys in the near future. They've recruited designers such as Phillip Lim (one of my favorites!) and Theory to create a green line collection. Also, the fashion that was seen on the runway at FutureFashion will be available for purchase Feb 21!
I guess this is really the start of a movement for fashion - a movement towards a greener, healthier lifestyle! If going to Barney's isn't within your budget, don't worry. Wal-Mart has already picked up on the trend, being the world largerst purchaser of organic cotton. H&M are also following suit with a new line featuring much of their clothing for under . What a bargain!
