Art Attack!

We all know that Spring fashion means FLORALS, and this season is certainly no exception. But another type of pattern is making its mark all over spring dresses and skirts as well - the art-inspired print! The colorful abstractions were on runways from Anna Sui to Zero Maria Cornejo (and everywhere in between), and, per usual, my mind wandered over to the realm of DIY possibilities...
Teen Vogue keeps it simple with a great paint-and-brushstroke-DIY from designer Jason Wu; the final product is so gorgeous-yet-simple that you'll do one of those palm-of-the-hand-to-the-forehead moves for not having thought of it yourself. Agathe's tie-dye project over at Style Bytes is just as cute and easy to achieve, and the same goes for Fashionista.com's Lanvin-inspired tank top DIY. In my opinion, though, the absolute best inspiration for art-inspired clothing projects is over at ReproDepot - the online fabric store carries a truly inspiring collection of Marimekko fabrics, my favorites of which are pictured above. They're the perfect canvas with which to take any basic sewing project from run-of-the-mill to truly inspired.
Are YOU digging the current spate of art-inspired pieces? What artists or works of art are currently inspiring YOUR closet?
