Worn Out: Street Style Pics of the Week

The above left pic, from a May 13 post at Copenhagen Street Style, and right, from May 17 at Facehunter, both stop at that magical place before a really good outfit becomes too costume-y. The CSS snap mixes just the right elements of Nancy Drew, Girl Scout uniforms, and Peter Pan - and the result is an unfairly cute, 1940s-influenced success. The Facehunter pic is decidedly retro and totally unexpected (I mean, she is wearing vintage lingerie in public), but the current focus on all things sheer and underwear as outerwear gives the look context - and it's grounded nicely by the natural leather shoe and bag.

My next two faves - she, posted by Flickr user Sea Lorraine to the wardrobe_remix group May 18; he, posted at The Sartorialist May 15 - are both about as crisp and classic as you can get while still maintaining absolute personal style. Her ultra-ladylike dress is softened by the ruffled cardigan and the heavy 40s-influence (I clearly can't get enough of the 1940s this week); his prep-school look stays edgy with the cropped pant, skinny tie, and little sneakers. Aces, the both of them.

Per usual, I've saved my very favorite for last - this week's pick is from a May 18 post at OsloStil. It's such an eclectic look that, like my first two choices, could have easily veered into costume territory but stopped at a really lovely place. The vintage-looking dress and subdued navy tights keep the sequins from seeming garish, and the heavy oxfords and black leather bag are a nice foil for the floatiness and shine going on above them. I think it's a well-thought out outfit that succeeds because it looks effortless - does it get any better than that?
Any street style pics you dug that I left out? What are you into (or not so much) about the above pics??
