Weekly DIY Roundup: Cat/Pet Beds!
For quite awhile now my partner and I have been planning to get a cat, and we're finally going for it in a couple weeks! So this week's roundup is all about cat/pet beds! I love Meg's Decor it Yourself idea from a few months ago, turning a vintage suitcase into a portable pet bed, and apartment therapy has a great version:

Pets aren't usually too picky, so a super simple pillow-esque design like this one on Crafty Daisies would work just fine...

Or there's Deb's Going Green's pillowish bed made from an old t-shirt stuffed with lots of fabric and yarn scraps - great way to put all those scraps to use!

If you want to get a little more complex, pretty little things has a tutorial for this dog or cat bed, which is actually a lot easier than it might look, according to the designer, Lori Marie.

There's a how-to for a similar style of pet bed over on wikiHow, made with a recycled sweater! I'll probably make this one for my new kitty, you know how I love recycley projects!

And now for the yarn lovers, there's a free pattern on Crochetville for this felted crocheted bed by Chrome Kitty:

If you have the popular intro-to-knitting book Stitch 'n Bitch by Debbie Stoller, you have the pattern for the "princess snowball cat bed." I love Elliecat's stash-busting version on craftster, a great way to use up leftover yarn!

Moving on to less normal styles... yoshhash on instructables explains how to make this cat hammock:

Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories has a fantastic tutorial for this cardboard cat chaise lounge:

Also by the superawesome folks at Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories, check out this cat monitor!

If you have two kitties and an unwanted desk chair, make this 2 level cat bed with a simple hack to the top part, posted by Phillip Torrone on the Make blog:

And lastly, this one is meant for a ferret, but I have to show you anyway.... The Ferret Eating Monster Bed by Taboo Creations, with a free downloadable pdf pattern! Fabulous!

Any cat parents have more ideas? I'd love to hear them - I want my new kitty to be super comfy!
