The Here and Now (and Later)

I've gotten so caught up in all the black and leather and lace of the upcoming Fall/Winter season that I'd almost forgotten to enjoy the last days of insanely gorgeous weather - and with SPRING 09 (crazy, right??) Fashion Week has begun, I thought now might be an excellent time to look at what we're wearing NOW and figure out what's worth carrying on into Fall...let's go!
KEEP:
Big florals, art-inspired prints, wideleg denim, and vibrant ethnic prints were hits this past season, and they'll take you all the way into next year. Keep things moving for the next few weeks with warm weather accoutrements; wear the same pieces in a few months with tights and heavier accessories. The inbetween time is perfect for knocking out the DIY projects and scouting thrift stores, eBay, and your fave local boutiques for vests, faux leather jackets, bowler hats, trilbies, and the perfect pair of boots - you'll be glad you put the legwork in now, as they'll all be great transitional pieces when the weather starts giving way.
PACK IT IN:
Bid adieu to your tiny little Liberty prints, rompers and most everything falling into the "shorts" category, gladiator sandals, and straw fedoras. Try as you might to cozy these pieces with tights, leggings, sweaters or scarves, they're are all inherently SUMMER. Wear 'em O-U-T for the next few weeks then pack them up tight - and remember - there's always next year!
What pieces in your closet do you rock year 'round, no matter what, and what are you wearing NOW that you certainly won't be in November??
