Fashion Week Highlights
Some of my favorites from New York Fashion Week...
Marc Jacobs- I liked this collection more than his Marc by Marc Jacobs collection which is more youthful, androgenous, and waif-ish. This collection, instead, is an elegant and unsual combination that calls to mind both upper class dress with Americana peasant chic. I especially like his use of shiny metallic fabrics.

Vera Wang- This was my favorite collection of the season, but that is by no means the majority opinion. Many of her pieces billow to a shapeless effect or shape around the body a little unusually. However, her use of necklines and jeweled chest pieces are wonderful.

Diane Von Furstenberg- Full of wild and bright patterns as always. Ethereal but bold at the same time with fun and playful headbands.

Vivienne Tam- I love this dress but it isn't a good representation of her collection. Picture bright reds, shiny patterned silks, and structured suit jackets.

Calvin Klein- Although this dress my look like it's being pushed by a wind, it is fact structured to appear that way. This collection is full of pearl tones and oragami inspired structured fabrics.

Zac Posen- Using very nude colors, this collection shows off a lot of jeweled embellishments, ruching, and layering.

Rodarte- This collection was definitely one of the crazier ones. The majority of the pieces were torn and deconstructed accompanied by fish-net leggings. Only his last three pieces were in the style of elegant dresses.

Carolina Herrera- A very fancy collection full of gowns and fancy cocktail dresses of rich deep colors- like gold, teal, and red.

Badgley Mischka-This collection shows off a lot of black lace which is one of the big trends and shear fabrics. His use of a pale purple is also fabulous.
DKNY- Unlike Marc Jacobs, I prefered Donna Karen's more youthful line. This is one of the more wearable pieces- take note of her neon sneaker pumps.

Christian Siriano- I love this dress- mostly because I don't understand it, but also because is appeals to me more as art than fashion, looking like paper or running water.
