Knit & Crochet Show, Part 1: Knit
A couple weekends ago (on the 12th) I got a chance to go to The Knit & Crochet Show put on by the Crochet Guild of America and The Knitting Guild Association, which happened to take place up the street from me here in Portland, OR. There was a vendor fashion show and lots of fun stuff to look at, so I'm bringing you my favorites things from the show in two parts - first the knitting, and then the crochet.
The Knitting Guild Association puts out Cast On magazine, so we got to see several projects from there modeled in the fashion show, including the Chloe Claret Coat with a removable collar on the cover and the Frosted Purl Ridges Hoodie from the current issue:

My personal favorite item from Cast On magazine was this green cabled sweater from the May issue - I always love asymmetry in knitwear!

I also liked the cute cabled hoodie that Coats & Clark offers as a free pdf pattern on their site!

But I think my favorite of all was Gardiner Yarn Works' Syncopated Rib Coat, by local Portland designer Chrissy Gardiner! (Ok, I'm biased, I do love Portland!)

Walking around the vendor booths, the knitting thing that caught my eye the most was not actually a knit item, it was this amazing sock knitting machine in the Fly Designs booth. So cool!

There were a bunch of my favorite Portland yarn stores represented at the show, including Abundant Yarn & Dyeworks, Yarnia, Knit Purl, and Yarn Garden, and tons of other Oregon yarn, fiber, etc vendors. (You can check out all the vendors here.) Oregon rocks for fibery stuff! And lastly, White Lies knit designs were beautiful to see in person! If you have the opportunity to go to this kind of thing in your town, take advantage; it's great to break away from the internet and get to see these kinds of fabulous things in real life!
