Celebrity DIY Style: Duro Isn't Dead

Three years ago Duro Olowu had the hottest 'it' dress around - The Duro. It became so popular, that almost all the "Big 4" pattern companies had their own version (admittedly, I even made my own). I had thought that this look was over, but saw a recent photo of Kelly Ripa in an Ana Sui kimono-style dress and thought it might be time pull out my dress and wear it a few more times. Looking to make a duro-esque style for yourself? Try Simplicity 4072, Butterick 4849, or McCall 5137 in a border or all-over cotton weave print, a fine silk, or trendy mesh. The key to making this dress work is to use fluid fabrics that drape well. Materials with too much body will make even the thinnest gal look heavy, while 'delicate' materials will skim the body and give the wearer a beautiful silhouette.
