As much as I love tailored clothing, my favorite creations are those that provide instant gratification.  Without a doubt, my favorite thing to sew is the garment that can be stitched up in an afternoon and worn out that evening.  When I saw this photo of Rihanna at the Gucci show in Milan, I knew instantly that this was a dress that fit the bill.  After searching pattern catalogs to re-create this fashion, I discovered McCall 5585 (view B design, view C length).  Not only is this a fabulous design, but McCall's also gives you several style variations, so you can change the look without investing in another pattern.  Speaking of Rihanna, she's confirmed that she's launching her own clothng line.  I can't wait to see what she comes up with.
